Terms of Use · v1.2 · Effective August 10, 2026
The terms of using BetweenUS Forum.
These terms are an agreement between you and Comity Works, Inc., a Delaware public benefit corporation (“we”, the operator of the platform this community knows as BetweenUS Forum). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. One set of terms covers the platform in every community it serves.
The short version
- Show up in good faith: follow the ground rules, don’t harass, don’t record without everyone’s consent.
- This is an independent, member-built service — not run or endorsed by any sponsor organization.
- It’s provided as-is; either of us can end your account, and you can ask for your data to be deleted.
- You must be 18 or older.
1. Who provides the service
The platform is operated by Comity Works, Inc. It is offered to members of sponsoring communities under each community’s own name (here, BetweenUS Forum, sponsored by YPO Democracy Group), but the operator — and the party to these terms — is always the one named above.
2. Independence
BetweenUS Forum is an independent, member-built platform operated by Comity Works, Inc. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any sponsor organization (including YPO). YPO Democracy Group is a sponsoring organization — it hosts its community on the platform but does not operate the service. Views expressed in conversations are the participants’ own.
Sponsor organizations do not operate the service, are not parties to these terms, and are not responsible for it. Nothing here grants you or us any right to use a sponsor organization’s name or marks.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for your account: keep your sign-in email secure, make sure what you tell us about yourself is accurate, and don’t let anyone else use your account or impersonate you.
4. Acceptable use
Using the service, you agree to:
- Respect the ground rules you agreed to at signup: listen to understand, assume good faith, keep what’s said in a conversation confidential.
- No harassment — no abusive, threatening, or hateful conduct toward any member, in or out of a conversation.
- No recording of a conversation — audio, video, screenshots, or transcription — without the express consent of everyone in it.
- No scraping or automated access, and no collecting other members’ information.
- No misuse — don’t interfere with the service, probe its security, or use it for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules, to protect the members the service exists for.
5. Your content
What you share with the service (your profile answers, intro text, feedback) stays yours. You grant us only the limited license we need to operate the service — to store your information, show the appropriate parts to your match, and use it to make and improve matches as described in the Privacy Policy. That policy is part of these terms.
6. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t promise uninterrupted service, that every match will be a good one, or anything about what other members say or do. Conversations are between the participants; each member is responsible for their own conduct and views.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service or these terms will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Indemnity
If your breach of these terms, or your unlawful use of the service, causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result.
9. Termination
You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. On termination we stop matching you, and your data is handled as the Privacy Policy describes: kept while a membership is active, deleted on verified request — email privacy@betweenusforum.org.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a formal claim, please contact us — most issues can be resolved by email.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will post the updated terms here with a new version and effective date and tell active members by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
